Christian Fellowship Church of the Philippines, April 2013 News Update

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers.” I Tim. 4:12
The above verse was our theme for our 2013 Christian Fellowship Church Youth Convention held here in Dumaguete City April 15-18! We had a great convention–one of the biggest rallies ever with nearly two hundred youth and one hundred pastors! The church was packed full! We are praising God for all the wonderful things He did among us in these four days! Hundreds of young people re-committed their lives to serve God and were filled with the Holy Spirit! Praise God for the fruit that was born in their lives during those days!
The CFC pastors and youth came from several provinces: Negros Oriental, Negros Occidental, Siquijor, Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga del Sur! Many travelled a whole day to reach here, coming across the Negros mountain range by passenger bus, and by bus and ship across the South China Sea from Mindanao! They were so tired, but so happy to be here with the others and enjoy the sweet fellowship and the Word of God to feed their souls!
This was the first convention that we separated the pastors and the youth, and they had separate sessions and speakers. The pastors and their wives attended their sessions in the Bible school auditorium here at our Christian Fellowship School of Ministry, and the youth attended theirs in the big CFC church. The sessions were so spiritually refreshing! The teaching had practical, down-to-earth applications and everyone was so happy for this wonderful time of encouragement and blessing.
Every afternoon the youth had Bible games competitions, such as “memory verse” and “Bible quiz”! On the third night of the convention, the youth had their singing competition, and on the last night they received their awards for the Bible games prizes!
Everyone went home happy and blessed and with a new purpose and commitment to keep on serving God! Thank you for all your prayers!
May God bless you more!

Christian Fellowship Church of the Philippines Newsletter for April 2013

Christian Fellowship Church of the Philippines, April 2013 Update

“Praise the Lord, O my soul, all my inmost being, praise his holy name.  Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”  Ps. 103:1,2.
We join in praising the Lord continually, serving Him wholeheartedly!  It’s a joy to again share some of the good news from here.
I made a special trip to far-away Zamboanga del Norte province in March to visit some of our churches.  I rode the bus from here in Dumaguete City at 4:00 a.m. and then rode a big passenger/cargo ship four hours across the Visayan Sea to Dapitan City.  From there I rode the bus again to Dipolog City and then on to Sindangan town, two hours distant.  Thank God for a good trip. I arrived in Sindangan happy to see the church and two of our faithful pastors there.  They are happy and sincere in the ministry in spite of hardships and trials.  The church building is not yet finished–it just has a roof.  It still needs a lot of work and resources.  It will be a big building to accommodate seminars and a Bible school in the future!  I was happy to see the town government is cementing the two lane road that passes directly in front of the church property!  That is a big improvement from the narrow dirt road in the past!
From Sindangan I travelled by bus again in the late afternoon to the town of Liloy, about an hour’s trip.  The church building in Liloy is along the provincial road and easily accessible by bus or the local three-wheeled “pedicab”, which is a motorcycle with a small side car attached and which seats four people.  The church in Liloy has been established several years ago, and has continued through hard work and dedication.  The building is simple and made of cement blocks.  Recently, the church was fenced with “cyclone wire” and sturdy bamboo posts!  It’s encouraging to see the result of commitment and hard work!  We’re so proud of our faithful pastors!
Early the next morning I traveled by pedicab to the town of Labason where we have an established church, as well.  This church is located a few kilometers from the town and is surrounded by lovely green rice fields!  It’s along the road and transportation is accessible.
Later that morning I traveled back to Dapitan City to catch the ship returning to Dumaguete.  I wasn’t able to visit our many other churches further interior in Mindanao Island.  Thankfully, I had a safe trip, traveling through some Muslim areas.  Most of all, I am happy that the pastors there are doing such a good job!
Our Bible school students are out of classes for the summer break, and they’re helping in local churches.  They’ll be back to continue their second year in June.
We assigned two of our students to take over our Campuyo church up the coast north of Dumaguete.  This church had been really down and didn’t have a pastor.  Now in just a few weeks time, the Sunday service attendance is already fifty people!  Thank God for this good result!
We look forward to our annual Youth Convention which will be held here in Dumaguete City on April 15-18.
Thank you for your prayers!  God bless you more!
